When to get a Knock Link
I understand than non-modded cars don't need a knocklink - but at what point should one be an essential buy?
Fitted H&S Backbox, Decat centre pipe & STI Panel filter over last few months so is it about time i invested in one?
BTW - MY00 Turbo.

on an impreza I would say it is essential immediately.
First thing you should buy, standard UK or not. Especially if it is out of warranty.
You can always get dodgy batches of fuel and you need to know when it happens and drive accordingly.

Adam is right (in a way), even standard UK cars have been known to det. I guess it depends on how safe you want to be. I ran my UK MY99 with a full decat for 60k miles without any gauges/monitoring at all and it never missed a beat. My current car lasted 6k before the engine went bang and I had a Knocklink, Lambdalink and boost gauge fitted.
If you drive it like you stole it, then I'd fit a knocklink and probably a few other gauges. Then at least when your wringing its neck you'll have a little bit of an idea if its about to cost you a lot of money. If you just drive it on the road and go for the odd blast having let it warm up properly (and you get the MAF checked/changed regularly) then I personally wouldn't bother.
Dave.

A great way to warn of any impending problems, even on unmodified cars.
