Apexi avcr installation
i need some help please
i'm currently putting in my avcr , i've got the wiring sorted , and mounted it nicely
I could do with some underbonnet shots of which pipes go where on my99.
at the mo' the wiring is all coiled up in the drivers side of the engine bay , waiting for me to mount the pressure sensor and boost solenoid.
Anyone got an idiots guide ? ?
Cheers Iain

I fixed mine to the bulkhead right in the driver's side corner at the top.
The "COM" port on the solenoid should go to the turbo actuator
The "NO" port on the solenoid should go to the turbo compressor feed line.
The "NC" port is not used, and should be open to atmosphere.
Leave the standard boost solenoid connected electrically, if you don't you'll get a fault code appear - i just removed the t piece and blocked the remaining pipe with a M5 bolt.
I mounted the map sensor on the same metal bracket that holds the standard boost solenoid - stuck it on with double sided foam tape, and then just "T"d it into the vacuum pipe that feeds my boost gauge.
I'll take a couple of photos for you if it'll help
Regards,
Richard

Not great but it might help.
I made a plate to allow me to install the solenoid in the same place as the oem after I had removed it.
I have mounted the presure sensor on the support bracket for my Induction kit.
If you need any specific pics let me know and I can sort some and email when I get home about 6:30pm
my AVC-R Install

thanks for the help guys - i'm actually still doing the wiring , so i'll get back to you for any pics needed ( probably will need some )
Question tho'
can i wire every connection up at the ecu without affecting the car ( whilst leaving all avcr sensors etc disconnected under the bonnet ) ? ?
reason being , i'm running a unichip at the mo' which is still connected. I'm having a Power fc fitted and mapped by AndyF in the next few weeks, he will also be setting up the avcr.
I just want the car to run as it is at the mo' and then just plumb in the underbonnet parts and disconnect the unichip when Andy is there.
Or should i connect the remaing wires from the avcr to the ecu when Andy is there as well ? ?

You can make all the ECU connections and also mount and connect electrically under the bonnet, this will let you use the AVC-R to monitor things for the time being.
We can then easily swap over the wastegate/solenoid pipes on the day, prior to mapping

Gents - had my AVC-R boost kit fitted by AndyF. The original solenoid has the pipes still attached and I'm looking to ditch them (1-because I'm tidying up, 2-one of them goes to the inlet pipe and I'd like to replace it in the future with a DIY one).
Am I right in thinking that they can just be removed and the inlet hole blocked (on the inlet pipe) ?
Currently, it has the inlet pipe hose (inlet pipe->boost solenoid) still intact and the other pipe is just VTA...
Ta,

IIRC - if you disconnect the electrical connector of the standard boost solenoid, it will illuminate the CEL + record a fault code
Hope this helps!

Ta - Thought it could be removed - I think the hoses are still there to avoid having an unplugged hole in the inlet pipe...
You're right about the CEL, but I'm not sure the Apexi PFC will do that... I'll leave it there anyhow, as I've no desire to remove the solenoid, just the pipework...
