Default What's that noise??

Hi all,

I've done a search on this, but it didn't seem to yield anything particularly useful. I've just noticed that my MY99 Turbo produces a "ticking sound" from the engine bay when idling. It's regular in frequency, reasonably fast and Seems to dissappear when revs are applied (either that or its just drowned out). I only checked the oil levels a few days ago and a recent inspection revealed that the engine oil itself was spot on.

It certainly doesn't sound alarming and I may just be being paranoid, but might this sound be indicative of anything sinister?

Best.

BTW I only tend to notice this sound when I'm letting the car cool off, but it's not just a sound produced by the car cooling down....too regular for that.

Most likely culprit is the boost solenoid, as your looking at the engine. left hand suspension turrett, Cylindrical device fastened to it with pipes comming off, put your fingers on it, Its ticking , Listen , Is it that ??, Injectors they tick, but probably not pronounced, Next thing would be tappetts, But like you say nothing sinister there.
