Default Full decat? Will I need a remap?

Will I be able to fit a full decat system to a bugeye WRX and the car run 'normally' afterwards? I fitted a full decat to my MY00 turbo and it hated it, ran like a sack-a-****e! Turbo lag, ran lumpy, felt underpowered..!! Would this be the same with a new-age or can I just 'bolt-on-and-go'? Can the standard ECU be remapped or do I need an uprated performance ECU?

You can get an EcuTek remap for the new-age and get the full benefit of the decat. You could have done the same with your MY00 as well then it would have loved it

You will need a CEL fix if you decat the Bugeye - but a remap is advisable to get full beinefit as said.

Sounds like your MY00 had a problem if it behaved like that, I expect the lambda was damaged when fitting it.

I run a de-cat bugeye with a re-map..

EcuTek do an "off the shelf" re-map for a de-cat bugeye which also removes the need for a CEL fix as this is sorted in the re-map. These "example" maps are often called a "TeK 2"

Far better to get the car Mapped individually to your modifications for best result. AFAIK there is a group buy on EcuTeK maps from BRD (Bob Rawle......Top mapper) which you might want to think about

No need for a re-map after a full de-cat.I ran one on my MY01 for 15 months before i then had it custom mapped (Ecutek 3) the car was fantastic with the full de-cat and even better with the re-map (Once you learn to drive around its problems, Ecutek that is)

There is a slight problem with part throttle boost when you have the car re-mapped,they can map it out but fuel economy goes through the floor. The only option is to drive around it.

If you are driving in say 3rd gear at normal speed and then you suddenly mash the accelerator to the floor it feels flat and doesnt pick up as you would expect but i found if you depresss the pedal a bit slower the car feels perfect and boosts normally up to 1.2bar.

All the Ecuteked MY01-02 cars i have driven all have the same issue but adjusting your driving style to accomodate the issue isnt a real problem.

Pat who mapped my car knew exactly what i was talking about the day he re-mapped my car and said it was a known issue.

Zippy..

Dead right, there is no need for a re-map after a de-cat as the Bugeye ECU and associated bits can cope..........ish !

But a full re-map is better
