Default Motor Oil and VTEC dilemma!

I've got a Teg which I've been told by the Honda Main Dealer has had Fully Synthetic Oil put in it for the service. I understand that semi-synth is better for vtec engines. The oil apprently is 0W 30 Elf SXR Fully Synth.

Will topping it up with a different fully synth be ok until its next service ? Does it need to be 0W 30 also or will any fully synth be ok ?

I know nothing about engine oil and want to make sure I don't do anything thats going to affect the engine.

Cheers

holy smokes mate..get that oil out of that engine...i have owned and reced vtec civics and tegs over the last 6 years,,,and that oil is way to thin for a 8,750 rpm reving teg and can only lead to bad problems..i have always uesd and sworn by valvoline racing semi synthetic oil 10-40 grade..SERIOUSLY do not listen to the dealer that is too thin by a long way..

You should visit http://www.hondarevolutions.com/ and ask there. Plenty of knowledgeable folks residing there who have tried various different oil combos.

Give me the full details and I'll get you the Manufacturers recommended specs and viscosity.

I need the following:

Model
Year
Engine size and type
Any mods
Type of driving

I will then tell you exactly what you should be using.

Cheers
