Default Lumpy idle

When im sitting at traffic lights etc the car seems to run a little lumpily.

Its not the MAF as ive changed that recently, wont be sparks because they were changed at the last service.

Any ideas?

Its not a uniform lump if you know what i mean!

Check for loose / split hoses, or ones fallen off.

Clean hoses including to / from boost solenoid in case oil carry over if it's a bit full.
Try an ECU rset and see if it gets worse / pull MAF connector and see if engine stalls ... just in case MAF is dead again.

It's not just the air con / climate control cutting in and out is it?

Ohh yeah, could be plug gaps too ... think 0.7 mm gap is recommended, not sure if for all plugs though!

Not really drinking the petrol at the moment, im getting about 60miles to a 1/4 tank at the moment, but i suppose it could be the lambda. Is there anyway of testing it?

I'd like to change the plugs anyway so ill check them when i do that along with an ECU reset as well.

When my Lamdba failed it did exactly that - lumpy idle, but only after stopping at junctions or traffic lights. Cruising the car drove fine, although fuel consumption went up slightly.

My MAF recently failed and it never caused any idling problems, just very lumpy boost.

Try driving with it disconnected. If it's better when disconnected, you know it's knackered.

Mines having same problem just now, idles fine, but drives like its running 3 cylinders/very lumpy, using tones of fuel. Got someone having a look tomorrow but I suspect the MAF sensor (hope thats all it is!)

My last scooby did that for a while and it turned out to be both the MAF and the lambda on their way out. Had the MAF changed and it improved but was still there. Then a few days later I gave the car a serious thrash and the CEL light came on, the car went into limp home mode and i limped to the garage to get the lambda changed.

Been fine ever since.
