Hi mate cheers for replying, dunno if its the diff that was just a stab in the dark!
Its a 'knock' almost similar to when youve got a cv joint knocking but its coming from the back of the car when i come off the clutch after changing gear. NB the clutch does feel a bit worn.
Any ideas?

try coming off the clutch slower, as you tend to get a great bump from the diff winding up if you let the pedal come up too quickly on the RA's.

p.s..I know it sounds obvious..But have you checked the diff oil level....?????
It could be anyone of the bolts..That hold the diff in possition slightly loose...(Usually shown with a rusty mark around the offending bolt....)..You should be able to visually see if the arb bushes are worn along with a visual inspection of the droplinks...The rubber will not be a tight fit on either the roll bar or the links...Good luck....Kev.

im thinking bushes as well (hoping) not only do i get a clunk now and again, but sometimes it sounds like a someone tapping the rear arch with a toffee hammer, exhaust mounting im guessing.

m8 of mine had a knocking coming from under the back of his car and 1 of the bolts that hold the propshaft centre bearing was missing completly ![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
that was just 1 of the many faults it had after having the clutch replaced

give it a good inspection underneath

hi.......can you check the history of your vehicle ........i`m a tecnition @ a subaru main dealer ......we have to fit modified rear shock absorbers & modified top shock mounts quite a lot ...(with these symptoms)...if you nip into your local subaru dealer they will know about this modification .....you should be able to check to see if your vehicle has been modified .

well mine was just the sound of the plated LSD - all components were checked recently and no problems, the tapping sound was an exhaust mounting - rectified by fitting a Group A straight-thro system
