Default Shall I upgrade the pump and reg...?

Car is an STi V5

Green panel filter
HKS Headers
H&S 2.5" DP
HKS 3" mid and back box
VF28

Going for a TEK3 remap in the near future but I need to considder whether upgrading to a 255 l/hr pump and reg would be worthwhile? I'm not sure if the standard one will keep up with the free flowing mods above.

If its just a bottleneck and it costs 10 odd bhp then I cant get too excited, if its a big hinderance to the remap then I will probably go for it.

Thoughts appreciated.

Hi Ron,

Was going to join in on one of the group buy's just after Xmas. I spoke to Triton the other day and Bob goes down there a fair bit so might be an option. Depends on price, if there was a few of us it might be worth a look

Don't even consider me joining in, I'd love to but spent way too much lately, did Hullavington on friday, what a hoot!! 140 miles at 7 mpg hurt a bit though, plus tyres, pads, etc etc etc......

No question about the Pump mate, i would choose the Reg wisely though.

If you can afford it mate (not questioning financial situ) get an SX Reg IMHO.

I'd definately do both pump and reg, and maybe the oil pump while you're at it just for safetys sake.

A word on headers, and I'm prepared to be corrected here... I was told by one of the mappers (no names) the other day that the headers can cause lean running, and due to the design they change the frequency of any det that may occur, which kind of makes sense to me. the worrying thing he told me was that the det was know out of the frequency of the factory knock sensor so the ECU doesn't hear it and pull the timing.

I'm sure one of the mappers will comment on this?

I also have a V5 STI with a 3" into 2.5" H+S full decat.
I'ts booked in with BR in Jan when I will be fitting a APC cold air Induction kit, Forge recirc DV, 3 port solenoid and a Link ECU.
Bob advised me that whilst fitting a Walbro 225 l/hr would be benificial, the standard Reg would be more than sufficient.

Hope this helps.

Jon.

Thanks all. Smiff, how come you went link rather than Tek? Just curious.

RRH, I would also stand to be corrected, but I would have though det frequency would be a difficult thing to change. Would like to know what range the KL listens for and the *normal* range for det.

I considdered the oil pump, but I dont believe anyone makes an uprated one, other than the RCM one - but thats just a mod to an internal valve rather than higher pressure / flow.

Either way, it needs remapping!
