Default Radio Lights Dim

Well as it says really turn on the headlights and the radio LCD display dims. Even the "Bright" switch does not change it. Car is Standard 04 WRX Any ideas to rectify this ?

2 choices, either its supposed to do that, 1 of my mates cars (cant remeber the make) does that goes into something called night mode supposed to be less distracting to the driver. Or your alternator can't supply enough juice.

it is supposed to do that so at night the radio doesn`t blind you. One of the buttons on the rightof the radio doubles as a brightness switch for when the lights are on. You just need to press and hold until it brightens the display.
