Question Front entry TD05 Help??

Hi, i have previously read about a mod that people do to the TD05, making it a front entry turbo. Is that correct? What are the kind of gains you can expect to see from doing this? How do you go about getting this done? Does anybody have any pictures of this as i am interested in doing it, as i am currently rebuilding the engine so it is the ideal time to be doing thinkgs like this.

Any comments or help will be gratefully appreciated, thanks.

the front entry conversion is to allow the tdo5 turbo to be fitted to a post 96 car, no point in doing this if you have a pre 96 motor.

Do you know if there are any mods that can be done to the turbo to improve perfomance?

Thanks

Andy can convert your TD05 to a TD05-06 20G. This will give more top end power with no apparent loss of spool.
From the front entry conversions I have been involved with I am not convinced there is any signifigant power gain over the O/E 90 deg inlet.

you send you turbo off pay X amount of ££ and when its back you make full boost 500 rpms earlier and hold it stronger for longer plus your car will be about 50bhp bigger due to this turbo. i have an andyf special on mine and according to my defi's its making 1.6bar at the moment get it done

the td05 is good for over 350bhp in standard form so if you are thinking about modding the turbo i would put it to the bottom of a long list of things you need to do first.

not sure what mods you have or what power you are looking for but here is a list of mods you want to look at before the turbo upgrade.

mappable ECU (apexi power fc, link, gems)
walbro fuel pump
uprated fuel pressure reg
3" full de-cat exhaust system
free flowing air filter
front mounted intercooler
larger fuel injectors

please give us some sort of idea what you are looking for from the car and what mods you have at the moment.

have a look here to see what i have done with my my95 WRX it the search for more power www.geocities.com/jonnygav2000
