Right I have a permanent code 22 - Knock Sensor on my TT and it does'nt clear with a reset. I am thinking that the sensor is knackered completely now. In the past it would come on but disappear eventually but now error stays on. What will happen if the car cannot get a signal from the knock sensor. I have been told that there are two different standard types fitted to the TT but do they both do exactly the same??

I now have a proper VF13 fitted instead of a VF20 which was fitted to the primary and it now runs up to 0.9 bar instead of 0.4 but I don't want a blown engine so I think I will be changing the knock sensor.

I cant hear any strange noises coming from the engine so I presume that knock is ok. I guess its change the sensor and see if the problem goes away. On the TT are there any mods to make the sensor less sensative.

I have the horrid burning engine oil smell coming from the engine but I have changed the rocker cover gaskets and checked for leaking oil and there is none now. Could this be down to the knock sensor alterng the timing and causing the engine to run way hot?
Its a 94 newer shape Twin Turbo.
