Ok, can i have some honest opinions as to what could be wrong with my car?
Ok, im after some opinions and thoughts on why my car only makes 295bhp and 282lbft.
The base car is a 2003 WRX, rolling road tested at 252bhp 251lbft with a scoobysport backbox and green filter in may 2004.
Since then i have had the following done to the car:
STI 505cc Injectors
STI Intercooler
APS SR30 Turbo running at 1.2 bar.
255ltr Fuel pump
Full Decat (TSL Group A downpipe, Scoobyworld afterburner center and H&S Up pipe, original scoobysport backbox (same as when originally RRd)
Resonator box left in the exhaust
Tek 3 Remap
Rolling roaded again at the same place but in lower temps and the car made 295bhp and 282lbft when i was expecting (and told by the mapper that it woul dbe in the region of 320bhp and 300+lbft.
Im going to have a look at the air filter to see if that needs cleaning but other than that im just not sure are to why the power isnt over 300.....is there something im missing?

its pointless expectin g a figure at a R&R day because someone has told you it will get that, choice of mods and the way they are setup affect everything. also what boost were you running on the rollers; when i had my td05 turbo on my car it used to boost to 1.6bar on the road and accel was mental but on the rollers my car only made 319bhp (i think) but it was at 1.1/1.2 bar. ive seen people get 330bhp on a td05 turbo with similar setup and they only make 1.4bar on the road i now make 1.4bar on a td05/06 turbo and it peaks at 1.6 bar, but if i put my car on the rollers ill be happy with 360/370 ish bhp even though others make over 400bhp at this boost as long as your happy with your car its all pub talk

Also im confident that the car can take 1.3bar as is. I cant seem to get full boost in 2nd gear either, and of course it mildly dets @5k rpm in 3rd and 4th.

Its not that XS, its the fact that ive thrown a shed load of cash at the car and the improvement wasnt as big as i had expected really......and that includes drivability.
Maybe i was expecting too much.....i dont know

Turbo is too small and not running enough boost given UK cams and RPM limit, possibly mapped on the conservative side.
Does the power tail off at all at the top end?

in answer to your question though the peak power remains pretty flast from 5200 to the redline with peak at 6600rpm, torque begins to decrease at 5200 though
The car the turbo came off was running 336bhp on 1.2 bar, only difference being an APS topmount and an APS 3" exhaust...
i am hoping its just the map though as up until now the car has been in very good shape!!

Not enough cold air over the intercooler so high inlet temps (so retards?)
It looks like the only way your going to tell is if you take the car back to the mapper and put it on the computer, see whats doing what.

just to add another point, i was told when mapping that the injectors were running at up to 90-95% duty at maximum......does that mean anything to anyone?

The SR30 is good for mid 300's, the STi8 intercooler is better than the APS one, you have the ingredients, but oven wasn't set to the right temperature.
The car can run 1.3/1.4 bar mid range and if it will hold 1.2/1.3 above 6k then you should get some good figs.
BTW what fuel are you using, Optimax? Will say 95% injector duty is no measure of anything unless we know at what air fuel ratio that is at. Torque is low, try a test, 4th gear and 1800 rpm, floor it and hold, watch and note boost and rpm, at what rpm do you get 1 bar boost and what rpm does it peak and at what value.

Thanks bob, i will try the 4th gear test and get back to you, and yes the car is always run on optimax, although at the moment its optimax and a drop of NF to prevent the nasty red light at 5krpm

I have much the same set up as yours (I have a TD05) and was very safely mapped by Bob at 1.37 bar.........the key word being safety and drivability
325 BHP and 288 torque (carefull as this was at Well Lane)
Was it mapped on a RR ??

Midlife, it was mapped on the road, and was tested a couple of weeks later at power engineering.
I will look for bob to sort meout with this in the new year, i am aware of the waiting list but i need to clear a few other things first before i can get this done, ill just have to be careful in the meantime.

Since the mapper isn't giving you sufficient attention after all this time to sort out a potential problem and that there is the ultimate risk of engine damage allegedly through his actions, wouldn't the company you have actually paid for this mapping be a tad concerned about their liability if it goes pear-shaped?
Perhaps a direct contact with them rather than their subcontracted mapper may get this sorted without you having to shell out extra cost?

Sounds like it may be overfueling considering the figures you have quoted for IDC with an uprated pump.
Have you expressed your concern to the mapper ? If he can't sort it out then people need to know !!

Andy i think he could sort it out its just getting hold of him!! Been let down a coupl eof times now, so am kind of reluctant to use again. Going to get tit done from scratch....as something else occured to me, i think the basemap that was used was based on a car with a TD04, as far as im aware the turbo i have has completely different characteristics to a TD04, and he did say he hadnt mapped one of these turbos before.....so maybe its just that.

Neilo 134 BHP/NA 2 litre, Midlife 137 BHP/NA 2 litre, assuming both were holding the boost. Within error ranges of different rollers or the TD05 blowing a little harder than the SR30?

you have paid your money-back to mapper to fix,i presume bob or whoever would have to charge you a new licence for remap as he did not map the car originally?
is it me or did you get a high original figure for just a bb/filter.how does it drive now compared to before?

i have just done the 1bar test that bob suggested on page 1 in 4th gear. The car reached 1 bar at 3200rpm.
