Which Intercooler?

Yeah seen the MRT one but big money for what it is - Pace do a fmic kit which includes all the fittings and i think a new rad as well. Not bad price too...
Anyone got one of these and how does it perform?
Would I be better with an sti tmic and a bigger scoop?
......Need more power : (
Cheers
Pat.

imho i won't bother with pace kit, its not as easy to fit as they say, there are a few comprises u have to make. i helped to fit one to a friends my97 sti. he has now sold that and brought one of harveys kits.
i'm in need of an uprated i/c myself, and have similar decisions to make. pro alloy are currently developing a new front mount intercooler for early imprezas up to my96. check out there website. it will be alot cheaper than hks, blitz etc but u still have to go along way to beat harveys kit.
i'm looking at getting an my99/00 top mount and adapting that to fit, this seems to work well from the people i've spoke to.

Radtec in Nottingham are supposed to do an uprated one, but I sent 5 emails and called them a couple of times to get no further on with it.
I told them about a possible group buy scenario too.
You`d think these companies would be after more work/money, but obviously not.

Sti 8 is the best intercooler but the idle control valve is in the way.
I think its worth giving radtec a phone call in the new year.
They are supposed to make some top quality stuff.
Not many tuners seem to cater for early slanty intercooler models.

iirc harveys front mount kits are around £500. he's just finished another group buy. best bet is to mail him or check out his website.http://www.geocities.com/harveysmith3000/
as far as i'm aware he only gets front mounts.

the sti v8 intercooler will not fit the pre 96 cars, i had a bit bother fitting a sti v6 intercooler to a pre 96 never mind a v8,better off going for a hybrid front mounted intercooler at around the £560.
