Question Advice on modding my GX impreza

Hi all,
Can anybody give me some advice on modding my non-turbo GX, would like a nice roar and few more bhp.
I have had it six months and its two years old.

Would an exhaust system for a wrx fit on my model and what are the differences between the two? (apart from the turbo)

Occasionally, I have noted and seen advertised non-turbo Imprezas that look like turbo models. Owners have added high spoiler, maybe put on morrette headlight conversion and changed bonnet to alloy with scoop, debadged back end, performance exhaust to add a lot more roar etc. All, this would come at a hefty price though and you might be better off just upgrading to the real thing. Another point is the mods could add heavily to insurance cost.

At one brief point when contemplating running costs, I did consider going down this route - but as my wife said, you would always know it wasn't the real deal - even if other people didn't. So I got a standard bugeye WRX.

Whatever you choose to do, hope it all works out.

www.imprezasport.net is a good resource for us non-turbo owners, have a look.

WRX exhaust will fit given a little bit of adapting I believe, there are after market systems specially for the non turbos though, or I had mine custom made for my GL for less than the price of an aftermarket one.

One difference is the suspension; turbo stuff is compatible there, as is after market stuff meant for turbos on the whole. Changing the springs and fitting anti roll bars is meant to transform the handling, it's still on my to do list; having the geometry set up by a specialist (note not a dealer, generally) is well worth £70ish - probably the best money I've spent on the car. Tell us where you are and someone will recommend a localish place for you.

Meant to be working so I'd better stop there, have a look at ImprezaSport for more ideas though
