Default Cold starting..?

I know the importance of a proper warm-up before running higher RPM, but can someone tell me if starting the car from cold, for a few seconds (say to get out of garage) and then switching off and leaving is detrimental to good engine health..?

Cheers,

Jason

I'd like to know this too, I've never liked doing it. I have been known to push the car out of the garage, wash/dry it, and push it back in!

This can potentially lead to borewash/flooding its not an ideal thing to be doing. This can then lead to other components taking a hammering such as starter motors.etc A borewashed car has washed the oil from the lining of the cylinder hence a lack of compression and lubrication within the cylinder.

Make your own conclusions! I would never cold start and then switch off again.

I though it might be so most times I'll give it a run. However there are the odd occasions when this is not possible..!

Am I right in thinking using fully synthetic oil helps due to the lack of minaral acids etc..?
