Is this the big expensive one, or do you mean I/C hose?

If its the induction one, not much unless your current one is a restriction IMHO. Plus it looks a ******* to fit. I recall PE rating it though.

In conjunction with big mods it would probably be worth it, ie big airflow. Think Harvey has one (big bhp)

It is a pig to fit, you end up having to break/cut the old one to get it off, and then a lot of wresting with the new one, unless you want to remove the inlet manifold. Biggest benefit is that it helps the turbo spool up quicker, IMHO - my bugeye WRX is noticeably more lively at just under/around 2500rpm, for example. Think it helps a little at very high revs too.

Autospeed did a test and proved that the inlet hose and inlet resonator are a lot bigger restriction than the panel filter. Yet most people change the panel filter.

Prodrive inlet pipe looks good and is cheaper, however does not have all 'usual' junctions

1. Need catch can ( not too much of a problem )
2. If using recirculating dump valve this needs to be plumed in, as designed for rally car with no dump valve ( tee into metal trumpet holding air filter or similar )
3. Idle stablilisation control valve ( ? )

Pain in the butt to fit even with the inlet manifold off!
The difficulty is getting the manifold back down properly onto the engine.
Costs a fortune to, (£230) but is well made though

Prepare for a couple of hours labour at least I had a look at one fitted, and decided against it on that basis!

Steve,

The one Harvey has on his STi is an MRT one and I have one sitting here for your model.

They are expensive but I have one on my car and it makes a tremendous difference and is much less restrictive than OEM. The induction "suck" is awesome.

Andy said when he mapped my car that it breatehed exceptionally well, so for my money it's worth it. Not just saying that to try and sell it You know me, and when it comes to advice I never b.s. to get a sale.

Cheers

Rich

Rich, what would you charge to fit one out of interest? Rather the skin off your knuckles than mine

AVO's (MRT is AVO made) is the best design/quality as it joins filter box to turbo, more than 2-3 hours for fitting and some broken knuckles ... but worth the effort especially as it gives better low end and throttle response.

Hi Mark,

It takes around 3 hours. You can either cut the old inlet pipe out, in which case it can't be returned to standard (if that matters) or take the inlets off (takes a bit longer).

I got mine out without cutting - although it did involve pulling off one of the nozzles poking out of it, you could stick it back on in theory.

my boost increased from 1.39ish peak to 1.44/1.45+

in the space of me changing the inlet pipe
so i belive the standerd part must be pretty restrictive?

feels a lot more "free" when driving it, sounds nice, all goes well, until it sucks itself closed at 5500 rpm LOL

i managed to fit mine without moving the powersteering and inlet manifold which was a bit tricky? but also good for bragging
