Default Over boosting :(

Done searches but peoples symptoms (sp) seem to be differant, so here's mine

RB5 Full decat, Tec 2, forge d/v, K&N cone filter.

After some work on car i've just started to slowly bring on the power on mile by mile, bit by bit.
Gave it a bit on motorway, 4th gear and at about 5 rpm the fuel cut took over.

At first i thought "%$&*, not the turbo" but then ruled that out.

Since then it over boosts in the lower rev's, just as the turbo spools up to the normal 1-1.1 bar at 3rpm.
Boost gauge is showing upto 1.4 bar and the ecu cuts the fuel.

When the rev's are higher, 5ish rpm the boost doesn't over boost and all is well.

The car hasn't seemed to have lost any power and no mods have been done for months.

Thinking it could be the actuater (sp) or maff or could it be a hose.

I can hear what i first thought was turbo bearings, a noise that sound a bit like a blowing exhaust but not poss a leaking hose? not sure? looked at hoses and can't see any splits.

Any help or advice would be really helpful.

Thanks in advance

Adam

So the boost is still going up to 1.4bar?
Did the car have the decat when it had the remap (or has anything been added since the remap?)

Remap was done same day after the decat 2 years ago.

3 Port solenoid? not a clue, my guess is it's the same one fitted as standard.

As said, nothings changed for over 16 months.

More help needed please

More than likely a sensor such as the MAF is below par & not reading as it should.

I'm no expert compared to most of you but i don't think it's the maff sensor.
Reason i think that is i can sometimes hear a ticking noise at low torque, 1st thought it was bearings but now not, poss hose or leak somewhere.

What can i check and how should i go about it please.

Or is there anyone in the guildford area that wants to earn a bit of CASH

Sounds like a sticky boost actuator. Try cleaning it out with some brake cleaner.

Should be ok if you clean it. But with a new one, atleast you will be sure. Easy 10 min job. It sit on top of the turbo and has a 4 or 5inch metal arm.
