Default Oil Temperature?

Hi,

Recently I have noticed that my oil temperature is above normal with normal being at 70 – 73oC and this week now goes from 80 – 90oC. I have not been driving it harder than normal so if anyone has any suggestions as why it would do this I would be great full.

Regards

80-90 is a normal figure. IMO I'd expect it to touch 110 when really ragging it.

sender located above cylinder 3

Where is the sender unit located? With the temp. you are describing I would have thought it was in the sump? A block located sender should show higher figure than what you describe although 70c is a little low even for a sump reading (depending upon oil viscosity etc.) Your second set of figures seem about right.

I`ll be at 90-95 just normal driving and then go up to 105-110 if giving it some stick.

Sender is located above cylinder no.3. Using Motul fully synth 5w/40

Is the oil level OK? Less oil will be doing more work = higher temp.

80-90 deg C is about right for oil measured in the sump.
70s is too low. Have you done an oil change?
