Default no real kick of power

ok my 98 uk turbo seems to be running sluggish, there is no real kick when you hit the turbo and i dont feel like i am being pushed back into my seat like other cars, there seems to be smooth power all the way through the revs, but i thought there should be a boost as the turbo winds up.
where shall i start under the bonnet then?

thanks

chris

Assuming you don't already have one - fit a boost guage to see what you are actually getting at the moment. Without knowing that you won't know where to start - split hose, gunged up boost control solenoid???

Any other mods to it......
