Basic question this one, I've got a standard 54 plate wrx, but want to change the exhaust to get it sounding better. I was one of those "yea, I'll leave it standard" types, but after three months and this website that ain't goin' to happen!!!. My local dealeer has suggested just changing the back box.
If you've got the spare cash, i would go the ppp route, they change the back box anyway, and you'll get approx another 40 bhp, it'll be quicker and sound nicer
Not so long ago i bought a center and rear afterburner vortex system from scoobyworld and it is excelent, easy and a great fit and sounds awsom - and if you can afford it get the decat pipes aswell
Hayward and Scott are worth a mention. The Prodrive exhaust is a bit too tame for me and the H&S backbox is just that bit louder. Under normal driving it is not much louder than the standard exhaust on my STI but sounds fantastic at full chat. I friend of mine has just fitted the Afterburner to his new age WRX and it does sound fantastic though they are louder than others.
with the ppp they replace bb and middle cat then remap
you could always replace the exhaust parts yourself if you just want it to sound better H&S or Soobysport are good quality
ken
afterburner vortex from scoobyworld its sounds ace on mine (full decat) but will still sound great with back box swap. deep throaty and howls on acceleration!
