car fired up then cut out after that it would only pop now and again but that was it, i had the rac out they said that it may be the crank sensor, but a few ppl have said the air flow sensor could have gone.

any ideas,

also the fuelpump is priming up but the is verry little smell of any pettrol in the exhaust.

 

i had the same prob and it was the injecters, once cleaned and a couple of injecter cleaner bottles everythng was rite as rain. i had mine sonicly cleaned by local garage.

 

Sounds like it may be flooded/borewashed to me. Remove the fuel pump fuse stick your foot hard on the throttle right to the floor and hold it there, now crank the engine for a fair amount of time, if you find its trying to start after 30seconds to a minute put the fuse back in and try to start it again with you foot still hard on the gas pedal.If it it flooded you will have to crank it for a fair while.
