Default Probs after rack change

Recently changed the steering rack on my uk96 turbo (for the second time!) Thing is though the steering is now making a quiet but noticable squeal when turning the wheel and the steering feels slightly stiff.

I'm sure the rack is ok as it looks good as new and was bought from a reputable place so think it could be something to do with the fitting.

I checked the fluid and it was really overfilled, have syphoned it out to the correct level and things seem a little better. It doesn't do it now when cold but once the car is warmed up its there again. Squealing and stiffened up.

Anything i can check?

Thanks
Ritchie.

Belt seems fine, drove down the road this morning and when the car is completely cold the steering is silent and feels absolutely perfect.

Within several miles it has warmed up enough for it to be slightly stiff and lumpy and also making the squeal when the wheels turned. Fluid level checked again and now reads at correct level.

Any help appreciated as this is doing my box in.

Cheers
Ritchie.

Check the fluid type you or the garage used. Sounds like the fluid is heating up and becoming ineffective. Is it boiling?

Just a thought, don't quote me on that... ;-)

It doesn't appear to be boiling but i think it must be the fluid. Gonna pop through to the nearest dealers and see what they say.

Cheers.
Ritchie.
