Possible Earthing Problem

Possible Earthing Problem
hello
have a problem which seems to keep on coming back. I have a my93 wrx. recently i have been having a lot of missfire and idle problems.
The plugs have been changed and everything else checked and changed that wasnt right.
basically there is a lot of problems on idle as it never seems to idle steady. the revs drop right down and it seems lumpy.
when driving there seems to be flat spots and missfires.
also on idle the volt meter is twitching up and down even with nothing else on such as fan, stereo etc.
is it possible to be an earthing/battery problem as this is really hacking me off.
any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Earthing all classic Impreza's is a good idea anyway, problems or not:

I saw a huge improvement in my MY00 (not in terms of more power, just much, much smoother).
I would do this earthing then if you are still having issues, get a dealer (or a tuner) to plug in a PC to the management port of the ECU and they will tell you immediately if there is a faulty sensor.
