Question Knock Link

Can anybody advise me how much I should expect to pay for one of these?

Also, who should I speak to regarding, modifying one so the lights fit in the dash like I have seen on some pictures before?

Cheers

There is the occasional group buy which gets the price down to about 115 or 120. I got mine secondhand from ebay for 85.

modifying is very very easy if you have a soldering iron, and will cost you about £2!!

1. Remove the 4 screws from back of KL and remove top

2. Remove nut and washer holding PCB board to back.

3. Turn over board to show where LEDS are soldered to board

4. Solder extension wires to LED connections on board. Use 2 different colours for each connector on the LED, the green wires are connected to the leg on the flat side of the LED (cathode??)

5. Wires tidied up and tie wrapped to exit case in centre.

6. Create slot in case top to allow wires to exit

7. Solder LEDS to extension wires, ensuring the correct legs of each LED are connected to the corresponding LED on the board (and that the cathode side of the LEDS match). Now carefully cut off the original LEDS from the board.

8. Reassemble

9. Happy days

Where have you put yours?

Maplins or RS components. Just get standard 5mm (or any size) LEDS, i bought 12v ones at first and these didn't work, i also bought extra bright ones, but these were clear and i could not tell which one was which colour and ended up burming them out trying to power them up . You could aslo reuse the originals if you want 3mm green and amber and a 5mm red LEDs(i have reused the high brightness red one).

Excellent stuff mate, didnt realise it would be so simple.

How come you have to remove the original ones? Lack of power?
