STI Ver2 Type RA - were any made without DCCD?
I'm looking at buying an STI Ver2 Type RA (GC8C4DD) shortly which doesn't have DCCD fitted.
However several STI Ver2 RA owners have contacted me and told me these were all made with DCCD, which has got me confused.
Were any officially made without DCCD? Or has this one had the DCCD switch removed and different clocks (without the DCCD display) put in by a previous owner?
Thanks

Nope, it's deffo an STI2 Type RA. It's either a V-Limited or 555 Limited as it has a roof vent, different colour dark blue paint, and seats with Colin McRae and Derek Ringers 'signatures' printed on them. The model code and VIN number both confirm it's a MY96 STI2 Type RA.
Have spoken to stockcar this morning and he's seen 2 or 3 without DCCD through his workshop, and they've all been 555 or V-Limited specials. Though to confuse matters he's also seen one with DCCD.
I suspect they did produce some of these without DCCD, but it'd be nice to see some documented evidence.
Is there any way to use the trim/colour codes on the VIN plate to determine exactly what model it is, and what spec/trim it was built with?
The SIDC FAQ only references the applied model codes....

Ken, you're a star
http://www.catherineandken.co.uk/sti/trans.html
Mine has transmission type TY752VB4CA which isn't listed as having DCCD.
The gear ratios are quoted as follows, but it doesn't have any diff codes at the end of the list so I don't know what front/rear/centre diffs it has.
1st 3.454 2nd 2.333 3rd 1.750 4th 1.354 5th 0.972 Final 3.900
So with 3.9 final this means it's geared low right? But still has a normal 60/40 front/rear power split like a UK Impreza?

Send me pictures/details and I'll add you to the list of known owners.

I too have a 555 special edition - but only the heart and soul...
I bought it wrecked and installed it into a coupe here in Canada. I am pretty sure mine had a 4.11 final drive though as the rpms are exact with my old tranny (also 4.11)??
Ok just checked - mine is a 4.11 -> 752VB4AA...

Hey - Just a front clip but it came with the rear end suspension and rear end drivetrain (brakes, diff, subframe, trailing arms/support arms (bearings ))
It has been most likely tuned as I max out at 16 psi.
Does it come with a LSD rear diff?

looks like the type RA sti from the same year as the 555 but not the 555. No red intake manifold which is too bad but mine is starting to flake off anyway...
Not sure of the internals differences but they seem to be the same except having a bit longer gear ratio than the 555 edition.
Looks nice and clean - congrats!

I've decided not to go ahead and buy this car. It's a great bit of kit, and I'm satified that it's all as it should be. But I had my heart set on DCCD as I'm a bit of an enthusiast, and am going to hang on and look for one with DCCD.
Though I'll probably end up with a right dog now and totally regret passing this one up!
I've deleted all the pics except the VIN plate one as thats still relevant to the discussion of model codes and specs.
