Default Boost Gauge Question

Finally got round to fitting a boost gauge last weekend, it's a Caerbont Telemetrix 52mm mechanical jobbie:

Couple of questions:

The dam thing rattles, seems to mostly happen when coming on boost. I think it's all secure so I guessing it's coming from within the gauge. May be because I accidently dropped it on the garage floor whilst installing it Is this normal for a mechanical gauge or is there anyway I can stop it. Other than that it seems to work okay...

I only get 0.7 bar boost tops, WOT 5th gear, private road , (MY00 classic), I thought the target was 0.9. It may just be the gauge isn't that well calibarated, I'd be happy with 0.8 bar It should all be gas tight, I used some PTFE tape on the guage fitment. It's connected to the spare nipple on the inlet manifold. Thing is I'm convinced it was down on power after my last service when they tweaked something to prevent what I though was an overboost problem, so maybe it is only boosting to 0.7. What may stop it reaching the target boost?

Cheers,

Graz.

Mechanical gauges are fairly delicate internally, it is possible that you may have damaged the bourdon tube or the linkage mechanism as they don't normally 'rattle'
I only get 0.7 bar boost tops
This may be down to the fact that the gauge is damaged since being dropped - also most mechanical boost gauges are built relatively cheaply so are not very accurate
My own gauge for example under read by 2psig until I calibrated it

Cheers
