Default Cooling Fan blowing a fuse !

Morning,

New problem today.

When the cooling fan starts the fuse blows.

If you bypass the switch with a small piece of copper wire, the fan still starts and then blows the fuse.

Would this suggest that the fan motor is at fault rather than the switch ?

Oh it is on a Fiat Cinquecento, but I imagine it is very similar to a Subaru !!!

Thanks

Del

Yes sounds like a fault with the motor..

you could try running a temporary set of wires fused from the battery to the fan and see if that fuse blows to see if it is a wiring fault or the motor...
disconnect connector and place new wires on the pins to the motor etc.
