twin scroll turbo

Default twin scroll turbo

how can you tell a twin scroll from a normal turbo(visual)??????

Its quite hard actually as the heat sink covers it up
If fitted to the car, the sound will be a givaway (has a sight whistle to it) but its the way the exhaust branches into it that probably gives it away the most.

If fitted the twin-scroll will have twin up-pipes (the pipes that go up from the ex-manifold or headers to the turbo hot-side). Normal turbos have a single up-pipe.

If not fitted the twin-scroll is easy to tell as the turbine housing (hot-side) has two inlets. A twin-scroll turbo can be used on a single up-pipe but then you lose the advantage of the pulse separation.
