Default Defi Gauges. Which ones.

Im after sticking a 3 guage pop in my STI UK and have chosen the Defi's as they appear to be one of the best ( and unfortunatly the most expensive )

Obviously the boost gauge is a must but what other 2 would be best to have or do you know what other route people went down.

Oil Pressure
Oil Temp
Fuel pressure
Water Temp
Exhaust Temp
Inlet manifold Temp.

I want to get them set up before I get the car tuned ( most probably TSL 333 pack )

Most people have boost, oil pressure and oil temp.
These are the 3 I'm looking at getting in the very near future, once I can source the best deal.

I got Boost, Oil and Fuel pressure.

Oil pressure gives a good indication of when the oil is up to temperature anyway - once you've spent a bit of time with it and learn where warm idle/running normally is. I got fuel pressure to keep an eye on my FSE reg.

go with oil pressure and oil temp.

these are the most critical as dodgy varibales like these will cost you an engine immediately and you have no other way of noting them,

the others just cause symptoms that might be picked up by a knocklink which you should have long before any defis.

Thanks for the response guys. Oil pressure and Temp it is then. I dont have a knock link but intend to get one at the same time, whats the best to get?. I just want to be able to keep an eye on things with me throwing away the remaining 20 or so months warrenty on a remap to 335BHP+

knocklink is a make, not a type.

there are knock displays from other companies, but the knocklink seems to be the one of choice.

There is one available int he shape of a gauge I think from demon tweeks.

scoobymania also sell their own quite neat little one which comes in a more stylish case.

alternatively stick with what is known and buy one from brdevelopments.com

I did a group buy on defis and most people seem to go for the white 60s.

BFs are cracking gauges, but more expensive

Are they a pain to fit or am I best off paying a specialist to fit them?

I'd recommend white faced gauges over the BF's. Having had both the white faced gauges are easier to read more of the time. BF's are all well and good for pimp value but when the glare of the sun catches them they are impossible to read (even with the brightness set to max).

Fitting is fairly straight forward. Just think everything through and make sure you have the right adaptors if/where necessary. I'm no genius with the spanners but managed mine with no prior experience well within a day. Second time only took a couple of hours.
