not used MOTEC personally, but pretty sure it is the same as the GEMS.............................
it will be using the CEL light as a 'shift' point and probably whoever 'mapped' your car has forgotten to set it more appropiately??

Not to worry you, but Power FC can flash the engine check light, at pre set det levels.
No idea if motec is set this way though.

Possibly like the GEMS unit as above. Acts as a shift light? Doesn't do that with my M48R Pro but that is 'old technology now

Having a Motec M800 myself, the check engine light defaults to be used as a shift light.

Marty it is set up as a shift light, your limiter is not at 7200 though, its 7750.

alyn, is 6500 not "appropriate" ? ... allowing for reaction time and time to change that is a real world 6800/7000 change point given the rate the car rev's, certainly in the lower gears where it matters
cheers

Jon you should be able to set your shift light up as the M48Pro has the same capability in this respect, unless you used all the outputs up.

I set the shift light to the "appropriate" position given the engine, by the time you shift you will be past max power and back into the meat again. Experiment a bit, I never ever "see" the shift light as I keep my eyes on the road, after a while you pick the change point up instinctively.
