Default ENGINE MANAGEMENT DASH LIGHT

i've got a 2002 wrx with full straight through decat exhaust inc stainless headers. the headers and downpipe are wrapped in heat wrap. all been fine but today i went on a long motorway drive and management light came on with error on exhaust gas temp and cat efficiency?

i reset the light and it was fine but came on after a while (still on motorway)
reset it again when i got home, left the car to cool the went for a 10 mile thrash inc motorway and b roads. the light did not come on.

is this normal or could there be a fault somewhere?

Has the cat been mapped out or do you have a cel fix fitted? To have the managment light on with just de-cat and no electronics to fool the ecu is normal.I used to only get mine come on when cruising at fairly low speed(60/70mph).

I'd guess thats the problem then.I could drive mine for weeks without it coming on,it was only slowish motorway stuff that ever caused mine to show the managment light,Same fault as you shown every time.A cel fix has cured it.

Lord Bass

the CEL is probably P0420 (cat below efficiency) ........ running the de-cat AND the headers I thought that some sort of re-map would be in order

EcuTeK re-maps simply make them dissapear and make use of the de-cat and headers you have fitted

lord bass,
Imho yes you can only go so far with the chip.I had one in my bug I took it out when I started modding thinks further and took the car to andy.f for a tek 3 it leaves all the safety factors in the ecu plus the tek3 is mapped pacifically for your mods as a lot of peeps on here will agree with.
