front diff or driveshaft? scraping noise!!
Hello people, need some help. My car has started making a real horrible scraping noise when driving. At first I thought it was the brakes as I had only just changed them but ive done over 200 miles now since then and at the rolling road today the guy said it sounded like the front diff or a driveshaft. So, is it possible the diff has leaked its oil and run dry? How can I check what is causing the noise? How to I check the diff oil?
Please help cos this noise doesnt sound good and I dont wanna keep driving the car like it!
Cheers
Steve
PS: what oil would I need to put in the diff?

Same oil as is in the gearbox, Syntrax or something the same as. Gearbox and diff are as one. So basically if the diff ran dry the gearbox would be also.
Had the same sort of problem on my MY99, esp when on full lock or trying to park. Found out its the outer CV joint (after changing the bottom ball joint ). Going to change it next week.
