Default sigma alarm fob - problem

dis-armed car this morning
travelled 4 miles to work, went to arm it and nothing.
thought me batteries were dead as the red flicker was very dim,so locked it by key and purchased 2 new batteries for it , £3.49 each ffs

fitted them, went back to the car and nothing.
bearing in mind i park the car in the same place every day i figured it cant be the usual suspect,ie,transponder(s) near by.so i went home,in the lorry, and picked up my spare fob,got back and hey presto,it worked

but i still cant get the original 1 to work , , had a look and apart from rubbing things(oooo-er) couldn't really do alot

any ideas anyone ?
or,where can i get a new 1 if need be
they arent on e-bay anymore

If you change the batteries, do you also need to re-programme the fob(s)..? Also, see what happens if you try the fob with it poked under your chin (where your body then acts like an aerial.)

.... there's no need to re-program the Sigma Radio Keys in to the alarm system after changing the batteries in the remotes. The last code transmitted is kept in a non-volitile memory, so the Radio Key doesn't need power.

If that particular remote still doesn't work with new batteries, and you are happy that it it not a case of Radio Lock-out (unlikely if your spare worked) then it does sound like you will need a replacement.

As you mention the LED, I presume the Radio Key is separate from the ignition key - if so, then a replacement can be purchased from a Subaru dealer (part number SACC 3461) or indeed a Sigma dealer (part number AC38) in either case, provided that you can disarm the system with a working Radio Key or the Keypad then you can program the new Radio Key to the alarm system yourself, saving on any labour charge.
The Radio Keys might be dearer than those advertised on e-bay, but you'll get some warranty with them. You can't be sure of the ones on e-bay - Radio Keys do tend to have a hard life on a bunch of keys!

Info on how to program new Radio Keys into your alarm system yourself can be found in your Operating Instructions for the alarm system, or a copy is available in the following thread if these have been lost:

Can't do much better than that...

i had similar probs and i found cleaning the earth contact on the CAR battery made it better.
[cleaner power to the reciever.]
also cleaned the contacts and made sure the spring had a better contact with the battery in the key fob.
it all helps

i managed to get hold of a new circuit board but obviously i'll need to
re-programme the fobs to it,i do have the new codes . . . .

like i say though, the spare fob works fine and thats what im doing at the moment
untill i fit the new circuit board then i'll program the dodgy 1 first
and if i do it right,lol,then the 1 i'm using now . . . .

Sigma Sam, Can you tell me how much Sigma remote controls are? A mate needs two for his Taxi (LTI TX1). The remotes look identical to the ones on my Sigma M30 alarm. There is a remote keypad but I think it is just an immobilier not a full alarm. If you can't supply direct, is there a dealer in Sheffield South Yorks?

Cheers,

Ian.
