Default Help whit and black smoke

I starter the scooby up yesterday and it did not start straight away like usual, When it started i had clouds of white smoke i reved it up a few times and it was missing, this eventually stopped, however itthen started omiting both white and black smoke.

Untill now the car has not used oil or water. I changed the back box (as i was fitting the std one back on as my new one was rubbing on the rear drive shaft.
when i removed the box their was a lot of water in it, I then checked the header tank and it had used just over a pint of water. Next i checked the oil to make sure it was not white, and umm ohh what oil am i checking the dipstick is dry. i checked it a couple of weeks ago and it was on max.

I think it is headgasket, but wanted to see what others think.

I am about to try driving it and see what happens.

If it is headgasket how much is it going to cost me to put it right?

Many Thanks
Derek Clarke

Head gasket.

Don't drive it, you'll make it worse. Do a compression check, see which head has let go.

I do not have a compression tester, i will see my uncle he has a garage and i am sure he will have one.

I have put oil in and i topped up the water and it took it for a drive. all seems well and it is starting first time every time again.
It goes well and no sign of any smoke. white or black.
