STI V5 short block on 97 GC8
Is it possible to replace the short block on a 97 impreza with the short block from GC8 STI V5 type r ?

yes, you will need the thinner v5 gaskets and it will run a slightly higher compression than standard. You will have some unused holes on the engine block where it's bolted to the box as the phase 2 cars used and extra set of bolts, but it will be fine.
