I don't even have to accelerate hard, just the pull from the autobox from stationary will cause this sloshing squelchy water sound from somewhere in front of me. I checked that there wasn't a half empty bottle of Volvic in the glove box so what else could be causing this? Head Gasket?

i had a sound like this a few weeks back. took the car for an interim and diagnostic as a precaution and found that the lamda sensor wasn't working. might be worth paying a couple of quid to get it checked over. are you using loads of petrol?
not saying it's linked could just be co-incidence

Well, possibly related but I've just been out for chips and noticed that at full left lock while moving I get a highish pitched grinding noise and some vibration.
Is my power steering dying?

Is the power steering reservoir the silver container with a flat top and matching silver lid? I noticed them filling that back up when I collected my car after having the turbo replaced.

Took it back to the place that fitted my turbo and they got some of the air out, still occasional sloshing, but I guess I can just get them to get a bit more air out each time I take it for other work.
The power steering noise turned out to be a broken clip not holding the wheel arch liner in place for the front right wheel. He fixed that FOC and it's gone away.
