tried today to bolt a legacy alternator to my STI 2005. the sockets are different but both are 3 wire. the legacy is with the indication of L, S and (unknown not indicated) the sti are L,S and C.
i still connect the wire together the C going to the unknown what happen>>>>>>>> the check engine light is on code P0558. any one have can help whether the two alternator are compatible.
why did i change the alternator is to check whether my is malfunction as the voltage will go as low as 12.4 when the fan comes in but will built up only to 13.8. which i think is very abnormal??????? have anybody face this???
i have post this before but still got doubt as 12.4 the engine seems to behave differently. when i bolt the legacy on it was doing a 14.2.... lowest at 13.8>>
could it be that this model is built in this way intelligent as somebody pointed out?????
Help anybody tell me that your model 2005 STI is doing this way?????????

just got the code how id they interfere as the diagnostic tool i use did not tell me the results of the code .
