tdo5 18g turbo

Default tdo5 18g turbo

i have a 2002 wrx which has full de-cat sti intercooler uprated fuel pump filter and dv 12 dump valve and a tek 3 remap which is runing about 270-280 bhp my question is if i fitted a tdo5 18g turbo and a set of sti injectors wot sort of power gains would i reach .cheers . Oh and also would i need to change the manifold or would the standard one cope MOMO

18g's are good for 380bhp (true bhp) but on some rollers 400bhp. Its what i tend to read on here. You could say a safe 370-380bhp mod dependent.

that sounds good does anyone know if i would have to change the manifold or do any other mods rather than just uprate the injectors cheers for any info MOMO

thats my old cars graph, it did 419bhp and 370ft/lbs with 1.35 bar and further mapping improvements

ninibobs (martin) has made over 400bhp on a 18g turbo with supporting mods with his bugeye wrx

i would love to go but i live up past inverness in the highlands its andy f who i am going to get the turbo of i sent him a pm earlier but no reply as yet i have got a standard td05 turbo here that i was going to fit on but the 18g would just make me smile a bit more i think but not sure wot other mods i would need to do after the sti injectors. cheers MOMO

The standard manifold is pretty good but for ultimate power gains you would be better with a wrapped tubular manifold. You also may need an uprated fuel pressure regulator and definitely a remap. hope that helps

Why does everyone bang on about uprated FPR? Bob Rawle advised me there was no need to change the FPR on most cars unless using small injectors, or going for big power.

My car (STI4) makes 383bhp/340lbft on a standard FPR.

Not saying is wrong, but i think it's a bit of a misconception that it's a must have upgrade.

the standard pressure reg spring tends to go weak when running an uprated pump, thats why an uprated reg is advised in general.

as you say though in some cases its not needed

i have got full decat uprated fuel pump sti top mount intercooler powertek filter i will put the sti injectors in and a td05 18g turbo wot sort of power should i get from that.Do you think i should replace the headers and uprate the FPR and wot is the apexi avcr sounds expencive cheers MOMO

would the megan headers be a good upgrade with the td05 18g turbo on my 02 wrx and wot are the like for lasting i mean cracking and stuff cheers MOMO
