genuine subaru oil filter too small?
Hey all,
Went to my local scooby dealer yesterday to get an oil filter for my 94 WRX, and when i went to compare it with the one already on the car, i noticed it was a least 10mm smaller in diameter, not sure about depth...
i consequently took it back to enquire, and was told that the current filters they do have changed somewhat, due to better manafacturing etc, apparently the thread size etc is the same... the only difference is the life of it... which is decreased a bit.
Sounds feasible to me but just wanted to make sure the guy was tugging my turnips before i change the oil 2mrw...

Strange all service manuals refer to this small filter for our cars (new age).
It's a mod that comes from the need for smaller filter in case of Spec C where there is not enough space for the larger one.
We have although (Greece Subaru dept.) the "old" larger filter that Subaru imports from USA, good or bad I don't know but they sell also the new smaller one for some cars like Foresters etc
I prefer to use the old style and I change my oil every 4-5K Km!
