2 channel controls both wheels on the front or rear, so they operate as 1, 1 locks releases, both do, 3 channel is similar but independent on the front where as 1 can lock and release but if the other has grip it will act as normal, rears will act as 1, 4 channel, all wheels are indepenent and will lock/release indepenently.

You probably wont notice it, the difference between the 3 and 4 channel is all in the rear 2 wheels, its the front that you want, but even then, it will be difficult to tell if you have 2/3 or 4 channel as it still works in the same manner, just not all independently.
