Step By Step Guide to replaceing downpipe?
Does anyone know if there is a step by step guide to replaceing a downpipe on a MY99 Turbo. I was at the NBO, and saw the Supercharged Sport, and the downpipe was DEAD easy to get at, mainly because the TMIC wasnt there (obviously!) So, removeing the TMIC??? Is that the answer, or has anyone done a downpipe with everything in place??? Basically I need a step by step guide please
Cheers

I found this link very useful when I did mine.

The work is being done on a newage car but I would imagine most is the same for a classic.

you really need to get your car on a lift to replace the downpipe
once on a lift its fairly simple to remove the downpipe, undo the turbo heatshield, remove it, then undo the bolts on the turbo attaching the downpipe undo the bolts to middle section, mount the new downpipe and put in the bolts, you might wanna work on it while its still warm, makes it easier to remove the bolts

Wrapped mine, also if you've have an open neck downpipe the heatshields will have to be cut.
Did mine Sunday and I dont think I would of been able to do it without the use of a pit and removed the TMIC to get the shields out

i did not remove my tmic, it took 1 hour to change the downpipe for me
openneck downpipe, i then cut the turbo heatshield in 2 parts and reused the upper part to shield of the turbo from heatsoaking the intercooler
i have not wrapped yet but will do soon as i got the time, wrap the downpipe to shield off heat and to keep the downpipe nice and hot for crisp turbo performance plus some pops and bangs

LIDDO you wont be dissapointed a nice growl when you boot it and you can hear the turbo spool up faster, its like getting a kick in the behind, it will release some bhp to, gl
