Default MOT Question

If my car is a 1995 model but has a 1990 engine in it - will it pass the MOT even though it has no CAT? I assume that they base the emissions test on the engine and not the chassis date?

Mines a93 and failed with no cats gutted as had no probs in the past 2 years but they are clamping down now.Trying to find a way round it,I've got a mate of mine looking into it,he has a freind with a Skyline who has no cats and he puts something in the perol and it passes.I will let you know, unless there is anyone else who knows?????????.Cheers.One more thing they will probably put the details in the machine as a 95 might be worth telling them that it has a earlyer engine in it,but they might think your trying to blagg it,not to sure though.

surely if the engine didnt have a CAT on to start with you shouldn't have to fit one just because the engine is transplanted into a car that did have one?
