Default Slanty to Straight IC

Well over this weekend I fitted a MY97/98 straight IC to my MY93 WRX all I can say is what a **** of a job !!!.

Ended up grinding down a 2nd hand throttle body and took the lip off the IC, bashed down the gearbox mounting bracket with a trusty hammer, had to cut down my Samco that I had fitted to the slanty the under pipe and the top one for it to fit, I didn't take any photos sorry as I think I would have thrown the camera at the car lol !!!!

I had to remove the strut brace to get mine on. Use a large flat screw driver to help get the throttle body hose over the ic lip. I found that the lower hose would tend to move all the time, so got a friend to hold the tmic square to tighten the clip to keep it in place.
Did not bash the gearbox mounting or cut down the throttle body hose though.

so hows it compare? i have a 93 and would like to change the intercooler. have you just left it sat in there being kept into position by the hoses and have you done anything to the scoop to aid cooling? what have you done with your dump valve ( using the one on the intercooler or blocked that off and are using the oe one from your 93? any pix from how it looks now would be appreciated lots .

It feels like it runs alot soomther and pulls better, it is in place and held with a OEM bracket the the left hand side and a custom made bracket on the right I have used the later undertray for the IC which had to be cut in places so that it would fit but have retained the scoop, I am using the OEM dumpvalve I removed the outlet pipe from the IC and had a plate welded over it.

I will send you some pics of the IC before and after the removal of the Dumpvalve pipe
