Default ScoobyECU help needed - Urgent

Just opened up the ecu of my '95 sti ra (SB Ecu) to find that there is already a chip soldered into the board where the spare IC socket is supposed to be:

Also, I imported the car myself from Japan so it cannot be another ScoobyECU installed by a previous owner.

Correct, the SB ECU already has a chip fitted. It's mapped by STi.
The early STi were shipped as wRX from the factory to STi where they tweaked and mapped the car.

The later STi did not as they were screwed together on the production line along with all the WRX

But replacing this chip with the ScoobyECU will still increase boost and map for uk fuel wont it? There certainly shouldn't be any loss of power by fitting it instead of the STI chip should there?

Thanks for your reply - so where do I stand with a ScoobyEcu chip - are there any gains to be had from taking this one out and putting in a ScoobyEcu, or will this have a negative effect?

Thanks

Gains are to be had, but as you know (we have spoken before). The duty cycle on the SB ECU is different to all the other WRX/STi's and runs alot more duty.
So a specific map for an SB ECU needs to be fitted.

Failing Scott, is there anyone on here who can solder the ScoobyEcu socket in place for me as I don't trust my soldering skills enough!

The SB is already socketed. The STi chip should just come out of the socket with the aid of a small flat blade screwdriver.

That's what I was hoping - but it's not. The chip is soldered directly to the board (bugger!)
