Default Pre filling filter or PSL..?

NO NOT AGAIN....!!!

Do any scoob MAIN dealers pre fill oil filter..?

Everyone I've asked about laugh it off as some joke. One even said they'd double checked with IM and there is absolutely no benefit/reason for doing this..! 'It's only a tiny filter'..?

Then in the next breath they all seem to agree that big end failures can be common and Subaru/IM are aware of this failing..WTF..!

Anyone got a rubber stamp, I think I'm dusting off my ramps..!

It was a main dealer that told me about how they prefill oil filters, said it was because the ecu would detect the knock/rattle noise from the lack of oil and retard the timing. So filling the oil filter would save them having to reset the ecu. They did down play any possible damage of not prefilling it thou, and also claimed that it was very rare, never I seem to recall was the word used, they ever saw an engine failure... well, judging by the number of engine rebuilds they've been doing on subsequent visits, I feel at least the last part was untrue.

Subaru say DON'T PRE-FILL!!

I do and would always do it .... thats my personal **** action .... what is NOT required is to soak it!! (some do overnight!!) I still can't get over how sad that is ... but, hey-ho!!

And forget all the ****** farting about with the Crank-Sensor, thats for losers and Billy-No-Mates!!

I do it on any engine where it's practical to do so.

The handbook says nothing about pre-filling the filter in the section on oil changes, but why on Earth wouldn't you! It takes NO time to do as you do it while the old oil is draining! I wouldn't DREAM of screwing on a dry filter on ANY car!

This is my point exactly..! How long does it take to pour some oil into the filter..?

From my experience most mechanics (note not dealer grease monkey/yts) see pre filling filter as part of the oil change proceedure on any car.

So here is the problem, if most main dealer do not (and most don't) prefill in any way where do you get your warranty services..?
