Engine won't start please help
I have put a 2002 wrx import engine into a beetle and it wont start. it has a v3 ecu and the wiring loom has been modified, it has no ignition pack pluged into it is this corect or if you can think of any reason there is no spark and why the injectors are not opening i would be greatfull of any advise. Also are the wire outputs on a u.s spec ecu the same as an import over here

When you say the loom has been modified, do you mean to remove the coil pack? Why was this done? If so how do you intend to produce a spark? Not too sure about these ecu's in particular but many wont inject fuel if there is no spark ie the coil pack isn't connected. Think it's designed so as not to polute the catalyst in the event of a fault, no spark no fuel.

I had someone cut down the wireing loom to get it to work in the bettle he has looked at it with no luck so i am trying to work it out for myself. If I know that this engine has one that plugs in or if it's in the ecu i could take a huge step foward

dependent on the year of engine it will either have coils per cylinder(4)bolted directly onto the plug tops,Or a coil pack on top of the engine with the four very long leads one to each plug. How are you checking for spark? You must have either removed a coil pack or plug lead to do this.
