Default type r or ra

im new to subarus and looking for help.
thinking on buying a type r or ra
1.which is better
2.how much power can the engine handle in stock form
3.where are good places to get scoobys tuned
4.what should i listen/look out for when buying one
5.how many miles will the engine last
i know that these questions are pretty broad and vauge but any info will be appreciated.

I do a bit of sprinting / hillclimbing in my RA, as it is the lightest variant of the Impreza. It suits me as all the common parts are easily sourced, the Type R could be another question as it is a 2 door and was not officially imported to the UK. It depends what you are going to do with the car, ie polish and drive or use as intended !!!! and how much cash you have.
I have an STi Type RA, 1997 model year on it's way from Japan with 74000 Kms on the clock if you are interested, all the common parts and 300 ish PS !!!

type ra = rally altered so if its handling u want get an ra,4 door only except a v limited 2 door in sonic blue which they only made 300 of. the type r's tend to be tail happy. if its a show car you want then either. all specs are pretty much the same and can be tuned easily. i would get an v limited RA but then i have one or a yellow type R as they are rare too.

94-99 ra's are £5-10k

97+ r's are £10k +

Cool

I think you'll find 97 Type-R's are around £8000 ish (I should know been looking for a few weeks myself) - around £10-£11k will get you a good V5 Type-R

type r's have amazing handling, same as the ra with DCCD, type r ratios are a bit closer than ra's too. go for the type r

Get a 2 door RA if you can find one then you get the best of both worlds

My old Type R was tail happy.... heavy right foot did'nt help mind and never liked using too much front torque with DCCD.. due to paranoia re the trans box.

Awsome car mind .. never heard of any 2 door RA's however.
