Octane Booster
Whats the best Octane Booster to go for ?
I have a 96 Sti 3 that has full 3" system inc de-cats, some jap chip, induction kit etc and running around 1.2bar.
Are they all the same ? or are there some better than others ?

Millers OB is pretty good and nice and simple : 1 bottle per tankfull. Other brands can require you to measure out capfuls or a fraction of the full bottle for each tank so for me the Millers is a good choice. Running a std 95 WRX on Optimax I've never had more than the first green show on my knocklink using this.

hello to you
quick reply to you question regarding octane booster,
i agree the millers stuff is great stuff but bp ultimate will give you the same
results.
can i just do the boring bit,im doing my masters with IM subaru an as a tech
i must tell you to be carefull as running high octain fuel can cause heavy detonation and can cause melt down of pistons.
but what the hell we dont care do we
have fun and drive it like you stole it.

Bit off topic - apologies, but where in Donny is Leger Subaru, Scott King?
Is it a proper scoob dealer and can do servicing etc?
I live nearby that's all and would be handy.
Cheers and apologies for hijacking

Having to remember that these cars are mapped for 100 ron, uk gets between 95 and 98 ron, high octane fuel in JDM cars isnt a problem as they are designed to run it, same as a race car is designed to run race fuel.

Cossie,
I ran an 96 Sti3 for 2 years - virtually same mods as you (1.25 bar) - Optimax and Millers and it never registered anything other than greens on the Knocklink. The only thing I did was change back to the original airbox with a green filter.
Good luck and enjoy!

1994wrx my 1995 when i bought it i was advised to run normal unleaded and put in a tank of super unleaded once every other month cars run for years no probs.
now using optimax but do i need millers got my *** spanked last time i asked this as various experts suggested that no way would normal unleaded(not optimax ) cause pistons to melt etc,so off we go again.
