Just installed green panel filter at 30k service in my '03 wrx. Getting an almost vta dumpvalve style pshtt/whoosh at gear change. Nice sound and I'm assuming this is normal with the green air filter? Could someone just put my mind at rest?

 

You will hear a noise similar to a VTA dump valve, just not as loud

 

I concur wit the noise - my only complaint was that the filter wasn't actually green in colour!

 

Do you think there's any difference in performance with the filter?

 

can't comment on performance as I had a few things done together, but definately a bit more induction noise and the occasional bit of 'woosh/psssht'..!

 

I don't know if performance has really increased but I am quite enjoying the whoosh pshtt! It was green in colour too.

 

How come mine wasn't green - do you reckon I've been ripped off!

 

I've got one, but never noticed the woosh, always thought that was my turbo spooling up. Not spent much comparrison time in a normal turbo though

Was your filter a blue one?

If so dont worry, we have our filters made by Green (but they're blue!!).

Dont be too concerned Green is the trade name..

(After all Orange mobile phones arn't all that colour are they?))

If you want to further increase the induction and DV sounds, why not consider the (free ) air box mod. Only takes about 20 minutes to do, free's up the airflow and gives nice cold air from the inner wing, reducing intake temps and (theoretically) increasing power (slightly ).
