I was also looking for a new back box (a month ago), which was louder than the original but not too loud.

I went for the Magnex.

Its not too loud but is still loud enough to extend the "scooby" grim that little bit more.
And on the motorway it is fine. You can still hear the radio

Have a look on scoobyworld, they have 2 exhausts. The ninja and afterburner, both very burbly but not oppressively loud.
I have just replaced the back box on my WRX, it came with a full system from japan, but didnt have the distinctive scooby sound.
Put on the afterburner back box, that lovely sound was there! Menacing at idle and grows into a lovely roar , not too loud though.

scoobyworld ninja & vortex are excellent pieces of kit. i have the angled vortex, nice, deep and throaty. the ninja is a little less intrusive but still sounds great.

Thumbs up

I ebayed myself a WRSport backbox a few months ago and boy, I am chuffed with it ('scuse the pun!). Lovely burble on idle and not too loud (I work shifts so that was important for neighbourly relations....LOL).
